LuxConnect and the University of Luxembourg, through its Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), have entered a partnership framework agreement establishing a long term relationship to jointly develop novel solutions for the aerial surveillance and protection of data centers.
With the increasing digitalization in various business domains such as financial transactions or connection data in mobile communication systems, there is a rising amount of data that have to be stored in large data centers. Therefore, data centers are clearly among the most critical infrastructures of our modern societies and highly relevant for nearly all ICT-enabled functionalities and services. However, this relevance and criminality of the data stored in such centers also creates a significant security problem since the data have to be protected against any unauthorized access and usage. Security of data centers includes IT-security and physical security, where physical security comprises the protection of the physical part of the centers.
The general objective of this research program is the investigation of novel concepts and solutions for a highly automated surveillance system of data centers using multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones) in order to support the human security personnel in their most critical tasks and hereby significantly increase the overall physical security of data centers.
